Just released in the states is the new surf movie, Musica Surfica, directed by Mike Sowry of Australia, and featuring Derek Hynd, Tom Carroll and Tom Wegener to name a few. This movie documents the finless surfing movement that Hynd and others have been pushing for a while now. Not just limited to the alaia, they're surfing all types of finless boards, surf mats, etc. that make this an unreal, must-see movie. Not only that, but it documents the relationship between this free-of-fin surfing and classical music, noting the relationship between Hynd and Richard Tognetti, a member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. This film won Best Feature at the New York Surf Film Fest. A really well done surf movie that inspires you to go and step out of your comfort zone.
